LTC James Earl Rudder, WWII

The City of Brady, Texas commissioned me to create a seven-foot bronze of LTC James Earl Rudder, wearing his battle uniform, depicting him on D-Day. I used a photo taken of him at Point du Hoc standing at the top of the cliff in Normandy for the pose. The photo published in the most recent book written about LTC Earl Rudder, authored by Dr. Thomas M. Hatfield, director of the Military History Institution in the Briscoe Center and is a recognized scholar of WWII. The monument will be placed on the historic McCulloch County Courthouse lawn in Brady and the dedication scheduled for June 6, 2019, the seventy-fifth anniversary of D-Day. LTC Earl Rudder was a soldier, and land commissioner. In the 1960's, as president of Texas A&M, he was the first to admit women to the university that were not spouses of the Corp of Cadets. I consider it a great honor to have been asked to create this sculpture in honor of LTC Earl Rudder.
